July’s Top 13: Superb Subscriptions

Don’t you love the experience of receiving and unboxing a mystery package? Here are some of our favorites and a few new ones we found while researching boxes for a new project.

Dava’s Picks: Founder and Chief Creative Officer

  • Daily Harvest makes morning easy. I love a smoothie and especially one with protein. Yes I can chop up my fruit & veg every morning, but I’m usually in a rush. So being able to grab a cup, fill with liquid and blend ensures I eat something other than a croissant in the mornings. Clean food, clean design, flexible box options. Discount code for $65 off your first box.

  • I love dark chocolate and will happily spend $10-20 a bar for brands that have quality ingredients and sustainable, equitable practices. If you don’t have a great chocolate selection near you then Cocoarunners is the next best thing. Curated craft chocolate, organized tasting notes and a slim craft box that fits in the mail.

  • The fashion industry is starting to find ways to cut down on the churn of new production with more options to borrow. I have tried a few for fashion rentals but RTR has better quality brands, and their membership is *the* subscription of fashion. Select, rent, return or buy the item at a discount since it’s been worn a few times. Reused shipping materials, dry cleaning included and you can choose your selection.

Andre’s Picks: Associate Creative Director

  • If you’re a vinyl aficionado like me, Vinyl Me Please is your ticket to rad re-issued color vinyls across 4 diverse genres. Plus, who can resist the sheer awesomeness of colorful vinyls that come with themed cocktail recipes and bonus art work on a monthly basis? Highly curated, great quality, and allows swaps with their back catalog in case you already own or do not care for the artists of the month.

Haley’s Picks: Creative Project Manager

  • Wellbel hair supplements have been my go to for the past 3 years. I always struggle keeping up with taking any sort of supplement but Wellbel has made it easy for me to stay up to date with their subscription service. Plus, with minimal packaging and neutral design, it looks great on my bathroom shelf.

  • For coffee lovers, check out the Fellow subscription box. They curate hard to find options based on your preference that are roasted to order. Bonus points if you love a local company and live in the Bay Area as they are SF based.

Suzanne’s Picks: Operations Leader

  • Working at a certified B Corp, I make a concerted effort to support other businesses in the B Corp community. One I recently discovered is the subscription box company Packed with Purpose; exceptional gifts with tangible impact. All gift boxes (box, shredding, packaging materials) are made from 100% recycled materials with areas of impact including women’s empowerment and youth development.

  • I love game night and especially games that are cooperative, where the group works together as a collective effort. With Finders Seekers, each month I receive a mystery to solve while exploring a new city and culture through puzzles, codes and escape room challenges. They also include recommended music selections that go with the theme to enhance the experience!

Zili’s Picks: Designer

  • Ollie is a customizable food subscription service for pups. Because our pups are more than pets, providing them with nutritious food allows them to thrive and live as long as canine-ly possible. Ollie treats dogs as unique individuals with adjustable plans to suit their specific tastes, lifestyles, and needs.

Xiaoxiao’s Picks: Junior Designer

  • I just discovered August, a new menstrual care brand. The subscription process is easy and flexible. To build your box, you select the amount of each product you need per order. Instead of the classic subtle and soft period care design, August’s packaging is bold, loud, proud, and independent, just as they want their customers to be and feel.

Sol’s Picks: Junior Designer

  • Billie is an inclusive, women-first brand that makes all vegan, hygiene products that celebrate “our choice to be shaggy, smooth or anything in between.” The razor is the star of the company. Not only are their products extremely sleek, colorful and attractive but, Billie is also very affordable because there’s no pink tax up-charge.

  • Not sure what to read next? Book of the Month lets you choose one out of 5-7 books available each month. The books are different genres and authors, and most of the time, new releases or even unreleased! Every month you receive a hardcover book for way below market price. A great way to find new books and explore genres.
