July’s Top 13: Scrumptious Summer Staples

It’s no surprise that July includes National Hotdog, Grilling, Picnic & Ice Cream days! Rather than pick just one, we’re including team favs in all categories. Read our Top 13 and then share yours.

Dava’s Picks: Founder and Chief Creative Officer

  • When I do eat meat, I want quality over quantity and head to Olivier’s Butchery in Dogpatch for my meats, especially for grilling. They make it easy with pre-marinated options and a range of sausages.

  • Watermelon and tomato is a fantastic summer combo. In a drink, or in a salad bowl, there are a ton of great recipes for this duo. One of my favorites has a turmeric oil dressing.

Andre’s Picks: Associate Creative Director

  • La Michoacana is the best “paletas” I’ve had since being in Brazil. I have to fight the urge every time I go into a place that has them in their freezers. My favs are the Mango, Coconut, and Pina Colada.

  • Grand Trunk waterproof picnic blanket,  portable hammocks and chairs are a must for on the go picnic, beach or park days. Small, durable, and ultra portable.

Caity’s Picks: Project Manager

  • I do my best to eat local as California has so much to offer and one of my favorite summer treats is Straus ice cream, try their Dutch Chocolate!

Suzanne’s Picks: Operations Leader

  • Bi-Rite Market for all my picnic and grilling needs. B Corp certified with 3 convenient SF locations, I’ve also used them to cater summer parties. My favorite picnic pack, The Classic, which comes with dips, nibbles, bevs and the most delicious cheese selection.

  • I’m not a hotdog person, but love a tasty sausage and Fatted Calf offers the best with an extensive menu that is varied and unique. I like them hot (Calabrese), savory (Fennel) and gourmet (Toulouse); they’re my first stop when visiting the Ferry Building Farmer’s Market.

Elaine’s Picks: Designer

Xiaoxiao’s Picks: Junior Designer

  • There’s nothing better than the frozen yogurt from Souvla. It’s refreshing and perfectly balanced with tart and light sweetness. Cretan Wildflower Honey is my favorite.

  • Hayz Dog is the perfect spot for late-night munchies after a fun night out in the city.

Kim’s Picks: Design Intern

  • IT’S-IT Ice Cream is an SF classic that truly elevates the ice cream sandwich game. Ice cream between oatmeal cookies coated in chocolate is the best way to beat the heat.

  • Sunscreen is a must-have during warm weather. I personally love the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun with SPF 50+ because it feels incredibly lightweight on the skin.
