September’s Top 13: Office Memories

This month marks the end of our 12 years at 1616 16th Street. While excited for what’s next, we’ll miss this gorgeous open space and the memories we made in Suite 370. As we pack up, here are some of our fav moments from over the years.  

Dava’s Picks: Founder and Chief Creative Officer 

• We moved to 16th Street in the fall of 2012 so we had a huge 13-year anniversary party here on Jan 13th, 2013: DJ, catering, custom coasters and swag, a perfect way to settle into our space. 
• Halloween! So many fun events from pumpkin carving to amazing costumes and a loft full of wicked treats, great music and friends. 
• Chocolate and Whiskey Tasting with 30 people. And yes I bought enough IKEA glasses for everyone. That was a lot of dishwashing, haha.
• We had a painting party to add the N13 mark to the double doors one afternoon. I think a few people still have their pants covered in the splatter paint.
• In/Visible talks first year was the best of the best for experimenting and just having fun with design. From dipping everything we could find in paint to tattooing our stage chairs, the office turned into a creative factory.
  

Andre’s Picks: Associate Creative Director

• Book Launch Party for Designing Brand Identity. Having fellow designers and agencies come into the office and celebrate design.
• Many – many – many creative flows, puzzle time and all of the lunchtime celebrity gossip sessions.

Suzanne’s Picks: Operations Leader

• Secret Santa gift exchange which became a White Elephant party with lots of laughs, gift steals and swaps. Designers know how to pick perfect presents!
• Headshots but make them fun. Photoshoot day when we went from behind to in front of the camera. Styled and art directed by us with our friends at Gamma Nine Photography making us look fabulously profesh.

Elaine’s Picks: Designer 

• Lunchtime at the office was a vibrant tapestry of great conversations, weaving through TV and movie discussions, celebrity gossip and personal stories of adventures that made every break a delightful escape.
• We had a blast at our quaint perfume workshop, where we shared our favorite scents and explored a set of perfume samplers, marveling at how each fragrance evolved uniquely when applied to different people.

Xiaoxiao’s Picks: Junior Designer 

• Puzzle time after lunch at the coffee table was always such a fun way for us to gather,  take a break from the computer and enjoy some low-key teamwork. Definitely one of those small but memorable office traditions!
  

Sol’s Picks: Junior Designer

• We recently hosted a Happy Hour for everyone in the building, filled with great conversations and delicious food. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with new neighbors.
• A standout was a salt tasting hosted by Dava, where we explored different types of salt, learned how they’re made and sampled unique varieties. It was a fun and unexpected experience that sparked great conversations and left everyone with a new appreciation for something so often overlooked.
