October Top 13: Lending a Hand for Disaster Relief

Attend a fundraiser, like SF <3 MX, a happy hour style benefit that Tablehopper is hosting from 6-9pm at the Cambria Gallery tonight, October 13th.

Santa Rosa is in need of volunteers and has asked neighbors who are willing to help to register with Red Cross of Northern California.

If you are an Airbnb host, volunteer to open your home to wildfire evacuees and relief workers for free.

Donate to the Hurricane Maria Community Relief & Recovery Fund, which will help the communities hit hardest by the storm by providing grants to rebuild low-income communities.

Volunteer with the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL), which acts as an Emergency Volunteer Center for Marin and Napa counties. Please note that it is important to keep communication lines and roads clear for evacuees and emergency responders, so please don’t show up without being contacted by the CVNL, and email instead of calling.

Or make a donation that will support the CVNL’s work in coordinating volunteer efforts with the needs of the affected communities and relief workers.

Visit the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster’s website for more information on how volunteer to rebuild areas devastated by Harvey, Irma and Maria.

Donate to Team Rubicon, an organization that unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams.

Donate to the Hispanic Federation UNIDOS Disaster Relief & Recovery Program for Puerto Rico which will help fund the immediate and long-term recovery needs of children, families and communities in distress from the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria.

Donate to the Sonoma Humane Society, which is providing basic burn care for stray animals and supplying pet kits with food to evacuees. Or, if you know a veterinary professional who would like to volunteer, send them this form.

Help a family or small grassroots organization by reading their stories on GoFundMe, and donating directly to victims of the Sonoma FiresHurricane Harvey or Hurricane Maria.

Oxfam, a notable global anti-poverty organization, is turning its focus towards long term support of Puerto Rico. You can support by donating here.

Donate to All Hands Volunteers, a volunteer-powered organization that rebuilds communities affected by disasters all over the world.
