March Top 13: Badass Women in Design
In honor of Women’s History Month, the Noise 13 team has gathered a list of inspirational women in all areas of design. Are your favorite ladies on the list?
Jessica Walsh creates colorful, surreal illustrations that we would love hanging on our walls! She is the art director and partner of the NYC based firm Sagmeister and Walsh, and has won multiple awards including Forbes “30 Under 30”.
Nicole Hollis‘s interiors are simply stunning. She has had her hand in everything from designing luxury hospitality interiors to graphic communication and branding. Treat yourself to a getaway at one of her spaces in the Bay Area!
Debbie Millman is a multimedia powerhouse who is not only the President of Sterling Brands, with the redesign of over 200 brands under her belt, but she also hosts the podcast “Design Matters,” among many other projects.
The late Eva Zeisel was a luminary in the ceramic arts and a self-proclaimed “maker of useful things”. She was a world-renowned and honored artist celebrated for her simple, elegant designs influenced by human relationships and the natural world.
Paula Scher has been at the forefront of her field for over three decades. She has received many honors for her work as a graphic designer, branding aficionado, and educator.
Leta Sobierajski has a bright and bizarre pop-art aesthetic that is perfect for her fashionable clients such as UNIQLO and Target.
Jessica Hische is a letterer, illustrator, and designer who has been featured too many places to mention. She’s worked with greats such as Wes Anderson and Penguin Books, and recently published her first book, In Progress.
Julia Turner creates graphic and sculptural jewelry pieces that are strong, beautifully crafted and influenced by city life. Her work can be found at Heath Ceramics and Velvet Da Vinci but we recommend a studio visit to see her inspiration.
Anna Grosh is an SF resident and graphic design student creating beautiful typography and illustrations. Her art noveau aesthetic sure is easy on the eyes! She is one to watch.
Phoebe Philo is the current creative director of the sought after French fashion house, Céline. She is one of the most influential female designers in high fashion today, creating timeless apparel for undoubtedly chic women.
And finally, Maria Giudice is a Bay Area trailblazer and icon whom this list would be incomplete without! She has been leading the way for women in the design industry for over 20 years and is a personal hero of ours.
