Yes, re-purposed fashion is becoming cliche…but these are pretty hip.

The walls of my sophomore dorm room were plastered with Roy Lichtenstein prints until one astute resident of my dorm pointed out that I must be a “freak” since I only had images of girls in distress. To my defense, all my Lichtenstein posters did not consist only of girls crying, shooting guns or drowning. I had “Blam,” the quintessential Lichtenstein fan poster. “Blam” portrays an airplane in distress, not a girl. That should count towards the “I’m not a misogynist” tally. My love of graphical depictions of women in triadic color…

I don’t know what it is, but right now I’m fascinated with anything and everything mini. I’m not talking about Austin Powers’ “mini-me,” or the mini-cooper here. I’m talking about miniature models of towns, buildings, or any real-life scene. There’s this weird feeling that rises up when I look at these replications. I’m the typical cool guy. Graphic designer by day, music nerd by night. I was even a DJ at my college radio station. So on the top of my design / music obsession is Blue Note album covers and the Wu-Tang Clan. For as long as I can remember I have been a huge rap fan. Looking at the album art on records, cassettes and even party flyers is what got me interested in being a designer. The truth is, I started wearing Clarks Wallabees because not only was Ghost Face Killah always rappin about them in his music,…

Not sure if anyone else has noticed, but here in San Francisco we seem to be craving the hunt. As one who is always out and about, I’m picking up on a theme when it comes to night life & restaurants: hunting + meat. I’m all for it but I have to wonder just where the carnal hunter instinct is coming from. Are we missing our hunter/gatherer past? Have we all been on too many veggie diets recently? Or is it simply that we miss nature here in the cement wonderland of SF?

Recently, I discovered this horrible fact of the existence of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Our blue pristine seas are not what we think they are and the animal chain that feeds our seas and us are definitely not safe. The news of this floating garbage patch, comprised of tiny bits of non biodegradable waste, the size of Texas, floating between SF and Hawaii is disturbing enough. But what’s more disturbing is how little anyone knows about it. Did you know? Inform yourself because apparently it’s not…
